Frequently Asked Questions

Our Sauces

How do your heat categories work?

Our sauces are classified into four heat levels: mild, medium, hot, and extra hot. These categories are determined through rigorous tastings, customer feedback, and our own extensive experience. Most of our sauces tend to fall in the mild and medium categories.

Is Lisa’s Hot Sauce healthy?

Lisa's Hot Sauce is crafted with premium, fresh ingredients, and absolutely no preservatives. Like most hot sauces, our products are vegan-friendly, low-calorie, low-sodium, fat-free, and cholesterol-free. Hot sauce is a healthier choice when compared to condiments like mayo, ketchup, or sweet chili sauce. What makes Lisa's Hot Sauce unique is our focus on catering to individuals with digestive sensitivities like heartburn, IBS, and acid reflux.

Do your sauces contain any common allergens?

We take food allergies and sensitivities seriously, so we follow both FDA and EU FSA regulations to disclose any common allergens on our product labels. While we're always developing new sauces, currently none of our products contain any of the following: celery, dairy, eggs, fish, gluten, lactose, MSG, mustard, peanuts, soy, sesame, shellfish, tree nuts, or wheat. (Some of those seem obvious, but you would be surprised how many sauces contain them!)

Do I need to refrigerate any of your sauces?

Thanks to their low pH composition, our hot sauces have an impressive shelf life, even after a bottle is opened. (Note that some separation or discoloration over time is normal and shouldn’t affect the sauce’s flavor.) To ensure optimal freshness, we recommend refrigeration. Although it remains safe when stored on the shelf, keeping it in the fridge after opening extends its shelf life and helps preserve the vibrant colors and rich flavors that define Lisa’s Hot Sauce.

Which foods pair well with Lisa's Hot Sauce flavors?

Our founder, Kyle, uses Lisa’s Hot Sauces on just about everything! Based on customer feedback, our sauces are most popular on Mexican and Asian foods, eggs, pizza, sandwiches, and burgers, but they’re also great on chilidogs, corndogs, beans, grilled meats, sausages, seafood, soups, stews, chili, pasta, and curries. Experiment with different hot sauces to discover exciting flavor combinations for your everyday meals.

Where is Lisa’s Hot Sauce made?

Lisa’s Hot Sauce is proudly made in Provo, Utah.

Why aren’t all of your sauces in stores?

Stores choose the varieties they stock. Your requests matter, especially when many customers ask. Reach out to your store manager to see more options on the shelf!

I want to try your hotter sauces! How do I build up my tolerance for heat?

Build your hot sauce tolerance step by step. Begin with milder sauces and progress to hotter ones with patience. Gradually increase the spice levels in your meals, taking small bites to let your taste buds adapt. Regularly include spicy foods in your diet to naturally develop tolerance. If the heat gets intense, turn to dairy products like milk or yogurt for instant relief.
